Apple Watch try-on appointments will be offered at the company's high street stores in the US and UK from April 10.

Customers will be able to test drive the high-end Apple Watch Edition for half an hour, while those interested in the other models will be limited to 15 minutes.

Apple Watch units will also be on display beside the other products at Apple Stores for those who prefer an unsupervised hands-on.

The wearable will be available for pre-order on the same day the try-on appointments begin, and will be released on April 24.

Elsewhere, Belgian IT firm Underside has created an augmented reality app that allows users to see how the Apple Watch will look on their wrist, with the help of an iPhone, a printer, and a pair of scissors.

Users must cut out a printable target and attach it to their wrist, and the app will beam a virtual version of the device atop of it.
