The fact that Google knows every single personal detail about you may inspire a healthy dose of Orwellian fear, but turns out there is at least one silver lining. According to a new Google report, the search giant is now using Big Data to help you with your fashion sense. By tracking how many search queries are entered on various styles and types of clothing, they are able to figure out which fashion styles are trending, and which should be tagged for the donation bin. No longer will you have to fret over whether that dude wearing culottes in a street style photo is about to become a thing. Google has the answer. Not only that, they also divide the results into seasonal growth, rising stars, and trends that have steadily grown over the last few years. And they can tell you what fashion trends to avoid (looking at you normcore). According the The New York Times, Google is already working with retailers like Calvin Klein to help with fashion forecasting. That's right, Silicon Valley has officially thrown its hat into the fashion ring. Crazy times indeed.
