Developed by Andrew Klein, this simple technique requires nothing more than an unusual, asymmetric cut (plus a custom sawblade that can make it) and a little bit of glue. From there, a single piece of wood can fold up into a box with virtually no trouble at all.
I could try to explain the shape of the cut but it's easiest to understand if you see it in action. And maybe the next time you buy some ready-to-assemble furniture, you'll be able to see it up close and personal.
