We know what you'll be watching on TV on Sunday, May 24—the 99th running of the Indy 500, naturally. But if you're flipping through the channels on Monday night, point your remote at the National Geographic Channel and check out Driving America, a two-hour documentary about how the automobile has shaped our nation over the past hundred-plus years.

And hey, recognize this guy?

Yep, that's none other than Matt Hardigree, our pal in the captain's chair over at Jalopnik, lending his automotive wisdom to the documentary.

Nat Geo says the two-hour special "looks back at how car culture has changed the way we have lived, worked, traveled and socialized," including tidbits like the invention of the motel, President Eisenhower's Interstate Highway project, a look back at the very first Indianapolis 500, and the improbable series of coincidences that let the Volkswagen Beetle survive WWII to become the world's most popular car:

Driving America promises to be that increasingly rare thing: An automotive TV show that doesn't suck. Check it out on the National Geographic Channel Monday, May 25, at 9 PM.
